Remedies of the five elements and their application in house/office

After you have benefitted by a traditional Feng Shui expertise, you will need to apply the advice contained in the written report received from the Feng Shui consultant. By using your creativity and at the same time following the received indications you can brighten your house by placing the remedies and amplifiers.

The remedies used by traditional Feng Shui are divided into 5 categories, depending on their relationship with the five elements: earth, metal, water, wood and fire. Inspire yourself from the examples below and enjoy the results you will obtain.

It is worth noticing that not the object in itself is important, but the type of energy represented by it. I hereby refer to the five elements which are actually five phases of energy transformation.

Remedies are also related to the trigrams used in the Yi Jing divination, originating from this science, as well as to the corelations made by the Chinese masters between trigrams and energies in nature.

Earth
The element earth is described by the colour brown (nuances of) and square / cubic shapes.

This can be translated into furniture with rectangular shapes and square shaped decorations. You can use paintings with brown/light brown square shapes, furniture with cubic compartiments, other square / cubic decoration elements (e.g. ceramic plates with square models)

Metal
The element metal is described by the colours golden (silver), white and yellow and the shape is the round / sphere.

Two of the most used metal remedies are the windchimes and the wall / desk clock with pendulum (which should work).

You might find other decorative elements in the specialized shops – such as moving spheres, decorative metal plates which can be placed on the wall etc.

Water
Colour blue and shapes imitating the waves represent the element water.

A good example is a shower curtain predominantly blue, with decorative elements imitating the sea waves, fishes. Also, a clock with wavey shapes and coloured in nuances of blue can be used in the areas where a metal remedy is needed.

Wood
Cylindric allonged shapes imitating the plants with high stem and green colour are associated to the element wood. A modern lamp with high green shade can be used to bring the element wood in the areas where it is needed.

Apartment plants or little trees with high stems can represent the element wood.

Fire
Fire is represented by the colours red, pink, orange and violet and triangle / star / pyramid shapes.

As “fire” decorations you might use the pyramid shaped orange or red candles, lamps of coloured glass with pyramid or star shapes etc.
