What a Traditional Feng Shui consultation consists of - Part II

As promised, in this article we will discuss about the importance of the visit at the customer’s house, as well as the necessity of using a Luo Pan (geomantic compass).

An expertise can be carried out from distance?
The answer is “no”. a good Feng Shui consultant has to personally see the customer and the place, so that important factors do not escape to their sight. Feng Shui is very strong. If a consultant is given a wrong reading of the compass degrees or if an important factor related to the surroundings can not be noticed, the solutions will be wrong as well and can do more harm than good. Also, many times, the customer’s looks and their comments say more than they could reveal from distance!

The Feng Shui consultants are a kind of doctors for the houses. Beware the offers of consultations from distance! Would you really like to be examined by a doctor from distance, instead of benefitting of a complete consultation?

There are other environment factors which are taken into account in a consultation: the streets around, the buildings, other factors.

Luo Pan – a fascinating tool
During a Feng Shui Xuan Kong consultation, measurements are carried out using a compass (geomantic compass called Luo Pan) which are combined with the date of construction for the building. This combination leads to mathematical calculations which reveal the features and potential of the building.

Luo Pan is a complex instrument, which contains formulas transmitted from a generation to the other. These are written, in Chinese letters, drawings or numbers, on concentric circules placed around a very precise compass.

The face of the Luo Pan, that is the round metal part on which the circles are drawn, is called the celestial circle and the basis, usually wood made, is the terrestrial square.

In the past, the formulas on the Luo Pan were coded; they were explained by the master only to his favourite students. Presently the Chinese masters teach those secrets more easily, taking into account the great interest in Feng Shui and the way the information can be accessed by an increasing number of people.

There are many things to be said about Luo Pan (there are books dealing only with the description of the formulas on it). We might talk again about this wonderful tool, in a future article.

Carrying out the consultation
After taking this information into account, together with the date of birth of the customer and/or other persons who live in the building, as well as after carefully analyzing the building and the surroundings, precise solutions are recommended, for the balance and optimization of the energies in the building or your office. The solutions most often recommended in the classical Feng Shui are the five natural elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

The result will be a personalized consultation on your house or office. The solutions can be integrated in the existing inner decorations, according to your taste.
