Celestial animals and modern world
I promised in the previous article that we will continue the story about the celestial animals and the way we can find them in the modern landscape of the cities.

Let’s suppose we live in a city of a plain area where there are no dragons, no tigers, none of the other animals either. Does this mean that the building receives no positive energies?
It is not quite like that. In a symbolic way, the four animals can be represented by buildings. Most of the houses are surrounded by other buildings. If we look towards our house from outside, these structures represent the dragon (at the left) and the tiger (at the right).
The mystical animals in the cities can also be as trees, hedges or fences. For example if your house has a park at the back you can plant a row of trees to protect your house’s back side.
If the structures on the left side of the building are taller than those on the right side, the energies of the house are favourable to men. This is due to the fact that the left side – the dragon side – corresponds to the yang energy. If the right side structures – tiger’s one – are more imposing then the energies of the house are more benefic for women.
To see which part has a more pronounced effect upon the building we live in, we will consider the following aspects:
- sizes of the buildings around; the bigger and more imposing they are, the greater their influence will be;
- the closeness to your house – the closer to your house, the stronger their influences are;
- density of the structures on each part of your house – the part with the higher number of buildings (or other structures) has a bigger influence;
The “rivers” within the city – how to choose a benefic place for our house
In Feng Shui the rivers and streets are assessed the same way. A river with its meandre is similar to a sinuous street. A stormy river is similar to a boulevard with intense traffic. According to the way they appear, rivers and streets can bring sheng qi (positive energy) which brings good luck or sha qi (neagtive energy) which brings the possibility of misfortune and diseases.
If you want to build a new house or want to find out your current situation, you should take into account also the aspects of the rivers / street around the building.
In article 16 we have examined one by one a series of houses at the intersection of streets (rivers) along roads with fast traffic, or at the end of alleys. After analyzing them, we will be able to better understand the way the (symbolic) rivers influence the energies in our houses.
