Other ideas regarding the space next to us. How to improve our life by giving up useless things

As far as the house arrangement is concerned, not necessarily related to Feng Shui but rather with the wishes and personalities of each one of us, let’s explore a few ideas which might generate small revolutions in your homes.

Imagine you are home. Look around. How would you describe your house, as a whole? Is it elegant and nicely arranged, made in a hurry or simply functional?

No matter how it is, you should understand that it is the outside representation of our inner spirit. Everything that surrounds us – especially our house – is the mirror of the things inside us. Things outside affect us as well, especially if we spend a long time close to them.

Everything in our houses is there because we put it there. Our house represents our desires, needs and tastes. It is unique because each one of us is unique.
Now let’s put the “critical glasses” and look around. Do you really think you need all the objects which surround you daily? Let’s start with the collection of old magazines and news papers which have probably been read once and that you said you would re-read some time, again. Or let’s think of the pile of jars and bottles filling the larder, together with the empty boxes of margarine, plastic bags and lids from bottles of refreshments which promise prizes of billions. Not to mention the collection of ropes from grandmother, the old books smelling of mouldiness that belonged to the grand-grandfather, that our grandfather piously keeps for who knows what obscure purpose.

Or it might be about our own little boxes, buttons, magazines and other papers such as food recipes that we know we’ll never cook, being much too busy to dust the trinkets that we don’t even like, that we received as a present from the aunt who expects seeing them in the window each time she visits us (that is, twice a year).

Let’s stop here with enumerating the objects which can seem useful until the moment when we wonder what they are doing there and for which purpose they have been collected dust for years.

Some readers might wonder how come I managed to treat such topics in a serious article about Feng Shui, that deals with cosmic energies and obscure formulas of calculation for the personal trigram Ming Gua.
I glady answer them that, when we want something new in our lives, it is good to give up something old, thus creating a physical / virtual space for what we want. Do we want to make room to the positive energies which can be directed with the help of Feng Shui? If yes, then let’s first get rid of the worthless stuff which makes our life flow as a river full of mud, transforming it in a crystal-like water flow, which brings us light and joy.

Therefore, let’s stop our daily rush and consider the objects in the house, one by one, asking (ourselves, of course, as not to frighten people around!): what is this useful for? How long a time haven’t I used it at all? Do I like it or do I just keep it for the sake of obligation to someone?

If the answer to these questions is not satisfactory (and you will notice the surprises expecting you) place the object in a box or directly in a garbage bag. It’s time of change!

Things we don’t like or don’t use store energies which are stagnating and stopping us in our way to the better. In a future article we will see the effect of these energies upon us and the results we will have if we get rid of them.

Case study: an usual apartment, full of useless things
As an example, I remember a house I visited in the past. I had the “pleasant” surprise, so to say, to be welcomed not only by darkness but also by a mess, starting with the kitchen next to the main entrance door, which was full of dishes although only one person was living in the house, and ending with the bedroom. I recommended to that person, apart from the enlightening of the apartment, to keep in the kitchen only one or two pairs of dishes, knives, forks and spoons and to store the rest in a closet or give them away.

The bedroom has also been rearranged so that the energy could flow smoothly and calmly and the one sleeping there to feel calm and relaxed when they finally o to sleep after a tiring working day.

Of course I passed by the larder too, where I got rid of all useless things there: old newspapers, industrial amounts of plastic bags, boxes and jars, ropes and lids.

After a general cleaning, necessary as well as getting rid of useless things, the apartment became full of life and the respective person started feeling much better.

Change brings positive things
The infusion of clean energy brought by such a change in our apartment is worth the effort and the “pain” a change might bring. Most people resist to the change because they fear it for not knowing it and not knowing the results it might bring.

It is time not to fear the worst but to calmly face the challenge that a rearrangement of our house might bring.

Don’t let yourself influenced by the criticism or comments of people around. Of course you won’t start throwing away your boy’s collection of car magazines or your daughter’s story books pretending they are useless. Each person has their “territory” which deserves respect. The power of example is the most convincing. Start cleaning beginning with your own possessions: all useless things (and these can also be clothes you haven’t been wearing in years!) can be thrown out of your life. Let the new enter and bring freshness and new energies. You will see how the others will first be surprised and then their example will follow as well.

I wish you good luck in the middle of the change and I am waiting for your stories about the success you achieved after giving up the useless things of your house and of your life!
